CRAIGSLIST Scam Alert: Believe it or not, there are unscrupulous dishonest people out there who’s sole purpose in life is to steal your hard earned money. IF you found a property advertised on craigslist, especially if it is a rental property and you are asked to send them money to “hold” the property for you, it may be very tempting because of the low advertised price. Stop! Wait! You are most likely sending money to a scammer and you will probably never see your money again. Understand that no legitimate real estate professional would ever ask you to send them one penny without first meeting you in person. I know we wouldn’t. It’s not the way we do business, and it’s more important for us to find a good tenant than to accept a deposit from people we do not know.
